In this course for nonnative English speakers, focus on developing the speaking and listening skills necessary to participate in situations requiring formal or professional English language skills. Work with a variety of materials to summarize, discuss, and analyze information presented. Learn to organize, develop, and critique presentations. Then, make presentations for which you will receive peer feedback and instructor comments. Learn to see both sides of an argument and to take a stand and support a position. By the end of the course, be able to offer opinions and to respond to the opinions of others. Finally, improve your stress and intonation and your ability to interpret underlying messages.
