This course will follow up on the concepts learned in Inside Baseball: Analytics in Action. With the help of Pitchf/x and Statcast, baseball has made major advances in analytics in the 21st century, more so than any other American sports league. With new information available, not only are teams better able to evaluate their players, but fans also are able to consume the game like never before. From additional ways to research the game to more dynamic statistical analysis on broadcasts, the information revolution in baseball is here to stay. This course will explore in depth how tracking technology--from pitch location to spin rate and everything in between--has impacted, and will continue to impact, America's favorite pastime. Guests will include members of the sabermetric community and other baseball industry representatives.
