About this badge

This peer workshop emphasizes craft with special attention to developing characters and themes; dramatizing rather than summarizing; pacing; using sensory detail to create a cogent, fictive world; creating tension; and polishing dialogue. Submit works-in-progress for discussion by the instructor and the class. In most sessions, four class participants each receive a half-hour critique. Published authors, editors, or agents are invited each semester to lecture and to answer questions.
