The Certificate in Journalism provides training in the highly dynamic field of journalism—digital and print—as it is currently practiced. By offering a sequence of required and elective courses, the certificate allows students to compile a portfolio of journalistic work, to develop career goals, and to acquire the skills necessary to pursue a career as an online or print journalist in the 21st century. This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete the four required courses and three five-session electives or one-five session and one 10-session elective. It is recommended that Reporting, Researching, and Writing the News/WRIT1-CE9515 be taken as the first course for the certificate program.
