About this badge

This course is conducted as a literary translation workshop, with a new translation assignment of approximately 500 words each week. Since translation is an art of interpretation, engage in dialogue with your fellow students and learn from how others have tackled the same assignment. Try your hand at translating passages or brief works of nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and drama from Latin America and Spain. By the end of the course, be prepared to begin taking on work as a literary translator, and be able to make better-educated judgments on the quality of other translators’ work.
